Geelong Library Stop Work Action

The Geelong Library is ranked as one of the best in Victoria, yet its staff is among the lowest paid.

Australian Services Union members employed at the library are taking industrial action to improve their wages and conditions. They today walked off the job and were joined by members of a number of other unions, including the Construction, Forestry, Mining, Maritime and Energy Union, the Independent Education Union, the Victorian Allied Health Professionals Association, the National Tertiary Education Union, the Australian Unemployed Workers' Union and the Renters and Housing Union, among others.

In the spirit of reconciliation I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community of where I live and work. I pay my respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
